During top 12 week on American Idol, they will be featuring songs of The Beatles!! I am so excited, as I have wondered why it took so many seasons to get the rights, for such a widely poplular show.
I have noticed on some message boards on the American Idol website (www.idolonfox.com) that people want "Something", "Money", and "Maybe I'm Amazed."
These same people go on to rave about their status as a Beatles fan. One quick mention: None of these songs are Lennon/McCartney. Sure, Maybe I'm Amazed is a Paul Song, but it was also on his solo albulm, never a beatles tune.
I agree, Something is an amazing song, and one of my favorites from the latter years. However, American Idol has not mentioned if George Harrison songs were included, they did make specific mention of the Lennon/McCartney songbook, which is hugely vast and includes some non-beatles tunes (for example, Peter and Gordon's hit, "Summer Song".
